Network Gangster (app.networkgangster) Effective: 10 August 2026 Last updated: 11 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Network Gangster mobile application (“App”) processes and how it is handled. The App is designed so that field scanning and map activity stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
1. Who we are
The App is provided by the publisher of Network Gangster (“we,” “us”). Contact: the support email listed on the Google Play store listing (or feedback@networkgangster.app when configured).
2. Data the App processes
Depending on permissions you grant and features you use, the App may process:
Device location (precise or approximate) — to show your position on the map, load nearby open camera packs, and estimate approximate distance from signal strength while scanning.
Nearby wireless observations — Wi‑Fi scan results, Bluetooth LE advertisements, and cellular tower signal information available to the operating system while the App is in use. These are used to list nearby networks/devices and estimate rough range. The App does not obtain another device’s GPS coordinates over the air.
Photos you take — only if you choose to attach a photo to a pin/note (camera permission).
Notifications — only if you enable Watch alerts (notification permission).
App preferences — settings such as map options, feed layout, and whether you completed onboarding (stored in app preferences on device).
Session data you create — tags, notes, paths, exports (JSON/KML), and optional feed snapshots you capture; stored on device until you delete the app data or export/share.
Public camera stills/streams — when you use Map or Feeds, the App may fetch publicly available images or streams from third-party open sources. Those providers process network requests under their own terms.
Advertising (free tier) — if you use the free version, Google AdMob (or a similar ad partner) may show banner ads and process device advertising identifiers, IP address, and coarse diagnostics under their privacy policy. Subscribe to “Remove ads” to stop in-app ads.
Purchases — subscriptions are processed by Google Play. We receive purchase tokens/status to unlock ad-free access; payment details stay with Google.
3. What we do not collect by default
We do not operate a required account login.
We do not sell your scan results or personal information as a data product.
We do not request background location. Location is used while you use the App.
We do not access your phone number, call log, or SMS for core features.
4. How data is used
On-device data is used to provide the App’s features: field scanning, map display, watchlist memory, alerts you enable, and exports you initiate. Diagnostic information is not uploaded by the App itself unless you use a share/email action you start.
5. Sharing
Data leaves your device only when you choose to export or share (for example system share sheet or email feedback you compose). Map tiles and open camera feeds are requested from third-party services (for example OpenStreetMap tile servers and public camera hosts) when you use those features; those services may receive standard network request data (IP address, user agent) under their policies.
6. Retention
Data remains on your device until you clear app storage, uninstall, or delete specific items in the App. Shared exports are retained by whoever you send them to.
7. Security
We rely on Android app sandboxing and device storage. Network traffic for map tiles and public feeds uses HTTPS where provided by those sources. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Your choices
You may deny or revoke location, nearby devices, Bluetooth, camera, or notification permissions in system settings. Some features will not work without them.
You may use Demo mode for sample data without live sensors.
You may clear app data or uninstall to remove on-device storage.
10. Legal basis / authorized use
You are responsible for using the App only where you are authorized to scan wireless signals and view public camera feeds under applicable law. Approximate ranges from signal strength are not forensic measurements.
11. International users
Processing occurs on your device. If you are in the EEA/UK, your local privacy rights may apply to any personal data you send us voluntarily (for example support email). Contact us to exercise applicable rights.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy where permitted by law.
13. Contact
Privacy questions: the support contact on the Google Play store listing (or feedback@networkgangster.app when configured).
